Description

Overview

PT-141 is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide melanocortin-receptor agonist, structurally the C-terminal carboxylic-acid analogue of Melanotan II. It acts primarily at MC4R and MC3R. Supplied as a lyophilised powder for receptor-pharmacology and neuroendocrine research.

Research background

PT-141 arose from Melanotan II research at the University of Arizona and was later characterised in the melanocortin literature as an MC4R-preferring agonist acting through central nervous system pathways rather than vascular ones. It is used in preclinical receptor-signalling studies and as a comparator for MC4R-selective compounds. A pharmaceutical form of this molecule has been studied clinically by others; this product is the research chemical only and is not that medicine.

Certificate of analysis

Every lot is tested by an independent US laboratory. The certificate for the lot you receive is linked in the product details above and carries the same lot number as the vial label. New to reading one? How to read a peptide certificate of analysis.

Handling and storage

Store the lyophilised powder at −20 °C, sealed and protected from light, and bring the vial to room temperature before opening. After reconstitution keep the solution at 2–8 °C in the dark. See how to reconstitute a lyophilised peptide (with calculator) and peptide storage and shelf life.

Frequently asked questions

What receptors does PT-141 act on in the literature?

Primarily MC4R, with activity at MC3R and MC1R, in cell-based and rodent studies.

How does it differ from MT-2?

A single terminal change — carboxylic acid instead of amide — that alters receptor selectivity.

Light sensitivity?

Contains tryptophan; protect from light in both solid and solution.

Certificate?

Lot-matched certificate linked above.

Human or veterinary use?

No. Research use only.

Research use only. All products are supplied for in-vitro and preclinical laboratory research only. Not for human or veterinary use, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. Purchaser must be 21+ and accept the Research Use Acknowledgement.
