Description

Overview

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is the oxidised form of the universal redox coenzyme found in every living cell. It cycles between NAD+ and NADH in metabolism and is the substrate for sirtuins, PARPs and CD38. Supplied as a high-purity lyophilised powder in a 1,000 mg research vial.

Research background

NAD+ biology is one of the most active areas of metabolic and ageing research, from the sirtuin work of Guarente and Sinclair to clinical trials of NAD+ precursors. The coenzyme itself is used in the laboratory as an enzyme substrate and cofactor, in assays of dehydrogenase and sirtuin activity, and in cell-culture and animal models of NAD+ metabolism. This vial is intended for those applications.

Certificate of analysis

Every lot is tested by an independent US laboratory. The certificate for the lot you receive is linked in the product details above and carries the same lot number as the vial label. New to reading one? How to read a peptide certificate of analysis.

Handling and storage

Store the lyophilised powder at −20 °C, sealed and protected from light, and bring the vial to room temperature before opening. After reconstitution keep the solution at 2–8 °C in the dark. See how to reconstitute a lyophilised peptide (with calculator) and peptide storage and shelf life.

Frequently asked questions

Is NAD+ stable in solution?

Poorly at neutral or alkaline pH and at room temperature — it hydrolyses and degrades to nicotinamide. Prepare solutions fresh, keep them cold, and use promptly.

What is the difference between NAD+ and its precursors?

Precursors (such as nicotinamide riboside or nicotinamide mononucleotide) are converted to NAD+ inside cells. This product is the coenzyme itself.

How is purity tested?

By HPLC on each lot; the certificate is linked above.

Storage of the powder?

−20 °C, sealed, dry and dark. It is hygroscopic — bring to room temperature before opening.

Human or veterinary use?

No. Research use only.

Research use only. All products are supplied for in-vitro and preclinical laboratory research only. Not for human or veterinary use, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. Purchaser must be 21+ and accept the Research Use Acknowledgement.
